What Does It All Mean?

Sawyer, Kate, Jack, Ben, and Sayid. They are still alive, I guess, in some time continuum somewhere. Charlie is dead. Locke is sort of dead. Claire is missing in action with Christian, who is very mysteriously speaking for Jacob, whoever he is or was. It is so confusing! Why do I keep watching “LOST” every week and devour the DVDs when they come out? I’m trying to put the puzzle together just like millions of other viewers. But, it’s not just the challenge of the puzzle that I like. I am attached to the characters’ lives. Most of them on Oceanic 815 were going nowhere. They had nothing to live for, no answers to the problems they had created. Kate had no way out of jail. Sawyer was headed nowhere. Jack was divorced and depressed. Sayid clung to a slim hope of finding a woman he hadn’t seen for years. When they crashed, at least they had goals–to survive, to be rescued, or to find help. I like how the show expanded after the first season to include so many other characters that were equally complex and psychologically baffling (like Libby or Ana Lucia). Not to mention “The Others”. What a goldmine of plot twists and turns they contributed to an already richly rewarding drama. Lost is the slickest, most convoluted, best TV show I’ve ever watched!
