My ideal honey moon would be a weekend in some small town in northern Quebec in a tiny cottage. Why? Because I want to escape, the city, the lights, and the noises, but most of all my family (those crazy people). Our cellphones wouldn’t work and we would spend the weekend making love (and babies). Why Quebec you ask? Well there is no Canada like French Canada, the booze is cheaper, the people are nice and there are lots of trees! You cannot forget about Le Depanneur, the Québec corner store! Nothing like a little Depanneur wine to spice up our honey moon!

I finally graduated from college!

My greatest achievement to date is graduating from college, finally. As the quote goes “third times a charm” and that exactly is the case for me. When I was 19 I wanted to be a cop so I enrolled in a community college 120kms away from my home to get away from my parents. Bad idea, I didn’t pass anything, first because I didn’t understand and second because I was having too much fun hanging out with my chums. Second time around I decided to combine my love of computers with my love of law in a course called Computer security and investigations, another bad idea. I didn’t pass anything because I was lazy and there was too much reading and writing and not enough doing. Third time I just stuck to computers and found a college that was 100% hands on and passed, finally!

If I had to live underwater for 2 years I would be a marine biologist because there is so much life in the water. Every natural body of water has millions of organisms living with in it, fish, plants, mammals, plankton. Some of these organisms are thousands of years old, and would be amazing to study to learn the history of life and earth as we know it. There are also manmade objects that were thrown in these bodies of water and it would be interesting to see what actually makes it to the depths of the oceans, whether it be ships, bottles, or people.

I think heaven is a place you go after your body has given up its spirit and if you possess a good heart. You will be greeted by family and friends who preceded you. Heaven is mostly a Christianity/Catholicism idea, and it is where Jesus and God reside. It is not some cloudy paradise but rather another dimension where you will continue to live as a spirit for “eternity” doing the things you loved doing as if you were still alive. You will be happy and everything you desire will be available to you. You cannot return from heaven seeing as you are dead.

One thing I can’t stand about my best girl friend is how she constantly imagines that other people are criticizing her or secretly mentally judging her. She lives her life in near-constant fear of being looked down upon, and it paralyzes her and keeps her from enjoying many of the best moments in life: the ones that require bravery and risk! If I shared these feelings with her, I think she would be hurt (as she usually is), but hopefully, she would recognize it as the truth, and try to be less judgmental of others herself. The way I see it, she is afraid that others look down on her because she herself looks down on others so often.

Heard It Through the Grapevine

I have, at times, caved into peer pressure when it comes to gossiping about a certain mutual friend or saying negative things about that person. While I never specifically contributed to the hurtful comments, I didn’t disagree either, for fear of looking like the odd person out. I mostly did this back in middle school and high school, before I learned that you have to speak up for yourself and others. If I could go back in time, I would tell my younger self not to be so afraid of what other people think. I would make myself realize that my opinions were just as valid, and the person being bullied or denigrated would very much have appreciated me sticking up for him or her.

Pizza, Fajitas, and Pasta, Oh My!

My three favorite foods are pizza (specifically marguerita pizza with fresh tomatoes on a hand-tossed honey-wheat crust), chicken fajitas (on warm, fluffy homemade tortillas with a dollop of sour cream and guacamole), and whole wheat mushroom marsala pasta with artichoke hearts… so if I had to eat them every day, I don’t think I’d mind so much. They would have to be the very best versions of those meals, though, using only the freshest ingredients and cooked to perfection. I love them all mostly because they are comfort food dishes (to me, at least), with simple yet delicious ingredients, and at the same time, they’re healthy!

I have seen many beautiful images and places over the course of my life, but most recently, I haven’t been able to stop thinking about the Irish countryside… so lush, vibrant green, and covered in tiny, fluffy sheep, just like all the stereotypes would have you believe! I was so excited when I visited Ireland to discover that it is true. I laid on my back in the soft green grass, in perfect sixty-two degree weather, and gazed up at the clouds in wonder. Our tour group visited the peaceful remains of a monastery, out in the rolling hills, and it was a very spiritual experience in many ways, as though we were a part of something ancient and mysterious.

The Best Three Foods In The World

If I could only eat three foods for the rest of my life I would choose the following: 1. Chocolate chip pancakes. Gods gift to breakfast lovers everywhere, chocolate chip pancakes are easily my favorite food in the breakfast variety. Nothing says breakfast like chocolate-y goodness mixed with fluffy buttermilk pancakes.

2. Grilled cheese sandwiches. Easy and simple to make, there are few things in life that are as satisfying as a cheesy, melt-y, toasty, grilled cheese sandwich. Honestly, I basically eat one every day as it is, so it would be an essential component of my three-food eternal diet. Lastly, number 3. Steak. Any kind of steak; top sirloin, filet mignon, New York strip, it does not matter to me. Nothing is better than a juicy, warm steak when you are looking for a good meal.

Beautiful Places

The most beautiful place I have ever seen is Hilton Head, South Carolina. I have spent most of my life living in the city amongst cars and traffic and guns and police sirens, so when my aunt took me on vacation a few years ago to Hilton Head Island, I was amazed by the peaceful and serene atmosphere that surrounded the beach and its residents. The calm ocean and the beautiful horizon made the weeklong trip a worthwhile and amazing adventure that I have not forgotten to this day. I hope to return to Hilton Head Island someday to revisit the beautiful beaches and golf courses that made our vacation so awesome.
