For my last vacation, some friends and I decided that it would be fun to drive about 8 hours down the coast and camp on the Delaware Seashore. We booked a campsite, packed a tent and some sleeping bags, and headed down the thruway. Things were going great until six hours into the trip when we hit backed up traffic. The last what should have been 2 hours of the trip took five and a half hours! When we finally arrived at the campground, we were informed that there were no campfires allowed. We were disappointed, but were still excited to be at the ocean. After hitting the waves for a few hours, we started to feel refreshed after all the driving. Things were looking up. Unfortunately, when we undid the tent bag, things went all wrong again. In the tent bag, we found not a tent, but a simple tarp. My friend’s dad had moved the tent and replaced it with the tarp. We spent the next three nights sleeping in the open air on a tarp because we could not afford the expensive hotels in the area. Thankfully, it did not rain.
