My Dream Job

After working for about 17 years on Wall Street I decided that I needed a change of pace.  I needed to slow down and get out of the rat race that was commuting to work every day, spending many, many hours on buses, trains and ferries, and missing the lives of my children.  After packing it in from the Wall Street job I took about a year off and just spent time being a mom; A job that is much harder than it sounds.  When all of my children were successfully in some kind of school I decided I would look for some part time work.  The preschool where my youngest was attending asked me if I would like to run a Parent/Child class.  There was no experience needed it was kind of like hosting a playgroup.  So I said yes.  It has come to be the best thing that I have ever done.  I still host the Parent/Toddler class and I also teach a childrens’ music class, run an arts and crafts after school center program and cover for absent teachers in the school.  It is a dream job and something I am sad that I did not get a chance to start sooner in my life.

The Forgotten Borough

The place where I live is very well known, yet not well known at all.  I live in New York City.  However, the part of New York City that I live in is the little know borough of Staten Island.  Staten Island is the smallest of the five boroughs that make up New York City and is affectionately known by the people that live here as “The Forgotten Borough”.  Staten Island is a great place to raise a family city, with a suburban feel.  Close to the arts and theater of Manhattan but far enough away to be able to enjoy farmlands and greenbelts.

A Chilly Day Outfil

November 22nd, 2010 admin Comments off

Today when I woke up I realized that the temperature would probably not rise out of the 50’s.  It was a cool 42 degrees when I got out of bed so I decided on a pair of jeans and a fleece top.  I knew I had several early morning errands to run so I wanted to be sure that I would be warm enough to not have to take out the winter coat just yet.  I also knew that I had a long list of cleaning jobs on my to do list for the day so I wanted to be dressed in something that would get me through the day without having to change.

No Movies Please

November 19th, 2010 admin Comments off

I have never been a fan of going to  the movies.  I do not enjoy movies, I never have, and I probably never will.  Sitting idle for two hours is just not my cup of tea.  I would much rather be doing something active or productive than seeing a movie.  However, being a fan of the Harry Potter series of books I have seen and enjoyed all of the movies.  I must admit, I did wait for them to come out on DVD and watched them in my home pausing and returning so that I could get other things done while watching.  Watching the young actors of this series grow and mature has been a very enjoyable part as well.
