Savannah, Georgia is simply an amazing place. Steeped in history, surrounded by pristine examples of highly skilled craftsmanship, touring Historic Downtown is one of my favorite things to do. I love the squares, with their historical monuments, and the numerous live oak trees draped in Spanish moss. Seeing horse drawn carriage tours circle the squares takes you back to days of old, where horses were the main form of transportation. Makers in front of houses point out the historical significance of events held there. The hand crafted wrought iron that decorates many of the homes dates back to the early years in Savannah’s history. Walking around downtown, there is a feel to the air that makes you wonder- what was it like? Touring many of the open historical homes shows you how people lived so long ago, and at the same time it allows us to appreciate the modern life as well! Summer in the south with out air conditioning had to be horrible!
I live in Delhi the capital of India. It’s a city which is known as a combination of seven cities as in last two thousand years of its history seven different towns had prospered here in different eras. the Delhi of today is a combination of Mughal architecture of fifteenth century and this part of city is known as Old Delhi to separate it from New Delhi where most of the buildings like India gate, parliament house and the majestic president house were built in British era. Jama mosque, Red Fort, Qutub minar and old fort are some of the great monuments here. The population of Delhi is more than ten million and the living conditions are so varied that while there are some of the most posh colonies of the country here on one hand while there are some slums just half a Mile away. It is the political hotspot of the country. Delhi metro which is an alternative modern means of transport has taken the city transportation to level of best in the Asian region.
Here in the greatest state below the Mason-Dixon line, where the unemployment rate is among the highest, I have languished for most of the summer because, having worked only 6 weeks–count ‘em, my fellow wanderers, six!–in 2008, I was not eligible for unemployment benefits! My brother, who might as well be rich, has been supporting me: I send him regular reports on my search for work (worked as a canvasser for a time, but was booted because I didn’t raise enough money; applied for work to Delta even though it was for back-breaking work; decided not to become a truck driver when I saw a video of a novice driver speed over a cliff), and he sends me just enough for me to get by. But last week Small Liberal Arts College called me back to the department—and there I was, standing, with authority, before 25 eager students, ready to teach them how to read, write, and think! Natural SLAC does not pay me a living wage, but what matters is that, once again, I have a real reason to get up in the morning, I know that I’m going to have people treat me with respect, and most important of all, I’m going to do something I love! We all know the secret of life in hard times—it’s work. Ain’t it the truth! Ain’t it the truth!
The only animal which could be given more respect in view of its gratitude towards its owner would be dogs. It propels and projects its wonderful features by its characteristic features. It gives the needed safety to its home owners by safeguarding their homes. It waves its tail as a token of gratitude. Dog is the famous pet mostly liked by the kids. Kids love to play with their pet dogs. They also treat dogs as one of their family members. They also take proper care for their kids by providing the essential materials like dogs- belts, fancy dog clothes and dogs feed.
