The Endless Job

August 31st, 2009 admin Comments off

I wake up everyday doing the things I used to do. Being a person who desires to become someone in this world has an endless job of making one’s life pleasant enough to reach one’s ambitions and dreams. Taking every opportunity to succeed and not mess up in everything that I do. Everyday I tried to be someone I dreamed of. But because of this I miss what’s the real meaning of life and how to deal with it with happiness. It’s so tiring that everyday you have to please people so that they would notice how good you are, and also to satisfy yourself that at the end of the day you could say you have done well. If everyday of my life is like this then nothing will happen. I might get the things I want but I’m pretty sure that one day I’ll regret it all for missing what is more significant in this in one’s life’s journey. So now as I start a new day of my life I’ll try to make it different not in a sense of messing up but try to do the things that really matters. And that at the end of my day and someone will ask me how was my day I could say “I live it well and my day is a great day to be happy.”

Back to School Shopping

Last weekend my shopping spree for back to school items turned into a complete nightmare! Each store I entered became more and more crowded as the day progressed. The isles were crowded and the check-out lines were unbearable. Saturday I made it my mission to go straight for the school supply list items only. My children’s’ schools have very specific supplies listed and I had to cover five different stores to accomplish this almost insurmountable task! Sunday morning I headed out early for school uniforms. I wasted no time gingerly dragging my kids from department store to department store. After several failed attempts to locate uniforms we could all agree on, I resigned myself to the fact that going to our local school uniform shop and paying an outrageous price for uniforms was the only sure way out of the quandary and the crowds. We made a mad dash for the uniform shop, purchased our wares and made it home just in time to prepare dinner. So there it is in a nutshell; my entire weekend sucked up in one huge shopping nightmare!

Crazy is a crazy does

August 25th, 2009 admin Comments off

My son is my life he is a bit strange though. He is about 7 months old but has always been a few months ahead of his peers. This makes me happy but worried that he will not fit in with his age group when he gets older. Another weird thing about him is when we buy him toys, he doesn’t like the toy. He seems to like simple things like the box the toy came in or an empty pop bottle. This makes me a bit crazy but makes me proud that he might not be like the other kids and want everything. He likes the simple things which I wish I could get back to one day. He loves climbing and hair, always with the two. If he can get to hair and climb at the same time, he is so content it’s cute. I think if all of us just looked at our kids before they get interested in 2 million things we might realize how complicated we have made our adult world. Maybe we should just relax and breathe, but that’s my own theory. We should all look to our kids for calm.

When Does Unethical Become Unacceptable?

The Closer

The Closer” on TNT has to be the most annoying series on TV but I love it and it’s a never-miss for me. Kyra Sedgwick has long been one of my favorite actresses and I was so happy that she decided to do a TV series. When it first aired, I was afraid it would be too heavy on crime/drama but it has been a clever mix of drama along with a lot of light touches which keeps the show from bogging down into the depths of blackness. Just the individual quirkiness of the large cast is enough to add bits of comedy to each episode. She does, however, stretch a lot of rules and regulations, to say nothing of the truth, in her quest to solve cases so I hope the writers don’t go off the deep end and have her become totally unethical. She’s on the border now of being a total “user” of people, even her loved ones, and there’s a really fine line that could be easily crossed. I’ve seen every episode since the series started and I plan to stay with it as long as there’s some credibility and like-ability in each character.

Sophisticated partying

August 19th, 2009 admin Comments off

I went out clubbing with my friends tonight and chose to wear a kimono style silk wrap dress. It was black with a colorful print border on the hem, the waist and the neck. The dress had a v neck and was sleeveless and fell above the knees. I accentuated it with two broad wooden bracelets, one maroon and the other black with golden accents. I had chandelier earrings with a base of gold and accents of maroon and green. I wore classic black stilettos with a strap in the back (which is very helpful and comfortable when dancing). I carried a black wristlet which is a very convenient partying purse. And I left my hair down but wore a hair band in gold. The dress looked formal enough that it could have been worn to a cocktail dinner. But by sprucing it up it looked perfect for a night out. It looked sophisticated but with just the right amount of fun.

I Love Saving Money

August 11th, 2009 admin Comments off

I also love the challenge of saving money and looking for bargains (hence I am turking). I often view these events as “games” and enjoy them. I find that if I am well rested and have been eating well, my day seems to be much more rewarding and I am better able to actually “listen” to people and “be in the moment”, rather than being preoccupied. I also try not to get involved with spiraling “negative thinking” and try to stop it when I realize negative thoughts are spiraling out of control. I learned a long time ago to not talk badly about other people. Not only do I feel bad immediately after, but it does no good for the person being talked about either. When a low mood strikes, I recognize it, but realize it does have an end, just like any other emotion. In other words, I don’t “feed the wolf”. I think I have found the secret for a happy peaceful life, and do enjoy my days to the max.

My Week in July

August 9th, 2009 admin Comments off

I think my past week went well. I have been shopping only 2-3 times last week, so, even though I went over budget with my money allotment, I still didn’t break a bank. My medications are working well. Of course, I still had 3-4 panic attacks. My kids are doing very well – drawing all day long, and it is a lot of fun to watch them learn about the world around them – there is so much they still don’t know, but, alas, they surprise you every day by what they already know. I think the past week was good in terms of our company profits. We haven’t sold anything, but we have secured one possible contract for about $900. We, of course, need about 20 of those to last us through October, but it might get easier along the way once the school year starts, and our new product will see light of day. The product development is going on well, the product is almost 90% finished, and then we are going to start our testing phase, which might take about a month, I think, so at the end of September at the latest, the product should be ready to go. I have also recruited one new worker and am now testing him to see if he is up for the job – so that’s about it – wish me luck for my next week!

Yukon Gold Potatoes

Last night, while watching the last season of The OC on DVD and dancing to the show’s music with my eleven-month-old daughter, I prepared my family’s favorite meal. I lovingly peeled six Yukon Gold potatoes and carefully washed them before putting them into lightly-salted water to boil. When the potatoes were about halfway done, I pan-fried two beautiful steaks, one medium-rare for myself and one very well done for my husband, and lightly sautéed about half a pound of mixed vegetables in olive oil. As the meat and the vegetables finished, I hand-mashed the potatoes and added a fattening but tasteful blend of Blue Bonnet Butter, Organic Valley Whole Milk, and Borden White American Cheese. After thanking God for providing our meal, my husband and I chatted about the things that had happened during our day and watched as our daughter discovered she could feed herself the mashed potatoes instead of having to wait for me to feed them to her. Love for her overwhelmed me as she made yet another foray into the exciting world of independence. One day, my husband and I will have to let her go into the world, but for now, we have these quiet nights of easy conversation and love-filled meals.

Geo-caching

August 7th, 2009 admin Comments off

I had a great time last weekend pursuing my new favorite hobby, geo-caching. For those of you who don’t know what geo-caching is, let me explain. You must visit the geo-caching website and obtain GPS coordinates, and then you enter the coordinates in your GPS. You then venture to the coordinate location to find a hidden container. Contained within the container at minimum will be a log book, and then possibly some trade items or items with tracking numbers, which may be taken from the cache. The beauty of this hobby is that is takes you to areas you have not been before, and many of the caches are hidden in areas chosen for their natural beauty. Whenever I take a trip, however large or small, I always look for a geo-cache or two to pick up along the way. The caches are hidden by local people who know all the best spots. If you love the great outdoors, geo-caching would be a great hobby for you.

Teaching kinder garden children can be fun

But as a parent of two kinder garden kids, I accepted a job for a year as a singing teacher. It was challenging. I find it is easier to teach your own children than a class of ten. It was a slow start as I had to explain the song as I went along in very simple words. Since the children had just come out of their homes they had a so called starting trouble to pick up words. But, it is amazing to see how by the end of three months how they were able to pick up. At first they took at least five to six classes to learn one song but then just two to three were sufficient. The greatest pleasure I got was to see them perform their Christmas pageant and sing the carols. The show got a big applause and everyone had a big smile on their face after listening and seeing the tiny tots perform.
